​NDIS Queensland roll out information

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will progressively roll out across Queensland over a three year period.

From 1 January 2016, early transition to the NDIS has been available in the Local Government Areas of Townsville City, Charters Towers Regional Council and Palm Island Aboriginal Shire.

From 1 July 2016, the NDIS will roll out across the rest of Queensland geographically.

1 July 2016 | Townsville, Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, west to Mount Isa, and up to the gulf

The NDIS will become available in Townsville, Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, west to Mount Isa, and up to the gulf from 1 July 2016. This covers the local government areas of:

Townsville
Charters Towers
Palm Island
Boulia
Burdekin
Burke
Carpentaria
Cloncurry
Doomadgee
Flinders
Hinchinbrook
McKinlay
Mornington
Mount Isa
Richmond

1 November 2016 | Mackay, Isaac and Whitsundays

The NDIS will become available in the Mackay Disability Service Centre area from 1 November 2016. The Mackay Disability Service Centre area covers the local government areas of:

Isaac Regional
Mackay Regional
Whitsunday Regional

1 January 2017 | Toowoomba and west to the borders

The NDIS will become available in the Toowoomba area and west to the borders from 1 January 2017. This covers the local government areas of:

Balonne
Bulloo
Goondiwindi
Maranoa
Murweh
Paroo
Quilpie
Southern Downs
Toowoomba
Western Downs

1 July 2017 | Ipswich, Lockyer, Scenic Rim and Somerset

The NDIS will become available in Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset local government areas from 1 July 2017.

1 September 2017 | Bundaberg

The NDIS will become available in the Bundaberg local government area from 1 September 2017.

1 November 2017 | Rockhampton

The NDIS will become available in Rockhampton, Gladstone and west to the borders from 1 Novemeber 2017. This covers the local government areas of:

Banana
Barcaldine
Barcoo
Blackall Tambo
Central Highlands
Diamantina
Gladstone
Livingstone
Longreach
Rockhampton
Winton
Woorabinda

1 July 2018 | Brisbane

The NDIS will become available in Brisbane City areas north and south of the Brisbane River from 1 July 2018. This covers the local government area of Brisbane City.

1 July 2018 | Gold Coast and Hinterland

The NDIS will become available in the Gold Coast and Hinterland from 1 July 2018. This covers the local government area of Gold Coast City.

1 July 2018 | Logan and Redlands

The NDIS will become available in the local government areas of Logan City and Redland City from 1 July 2018.

1 July 2018 | Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Tablelands, Croydon, Etheridge, Cape York and Torres Strait

The NDIS will become available in Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Tablelands, Croydon, Etheridge, Cape York and Torres Strait from 1 July 2018. This covers the local government areas of:

1 July 2018 | Fraser Coast, North Burnett, South Burnett and Cherbourg

The NDIS will become available in the Fraser Coast, North Burnett, South Burnett and Cherbourg local government areas from 1 July 2018:

The NDIS will become available in the local government areas of Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie from 1 January 2019.

1 January 2019 | Moreton Bay including Strathpine and Caboolture

The NDIS will become available in the local government area of Moreton Bay, including Strathpine and Caboolture, from 1 January 2019.
