What is social work?

Everyone lives a busy life. We are all doing our best to live independent and happy lives, but sometimes it is helpful to lean on support, such as a social worker.  Our social workers can help individuals, families and carers to manage day-to-day problems and other areas in their lives. They can provide information and encouragement, counselling, practical assistance and support to promote wellbeing, as and when you need it.

How CPL can help

There may be times when you or your family may feel isolated or unsure how to manage situations, behaviours or relationships - that’s where we come in.

CPL's social workers are trained allied health professionals who are skilled in addressing the psycho-social needs of an individual, which can include reviewing many areas of someone’s life, such as their relationships, social, and physical status.

They can support you to:

  • Build your social skills to help you make more friends
  • Help you understand why you feel the way you feel, so you can self-manage any sudden high emotions
  • Adjust after grief and loss
  • Build life skills to help you become more resilient and live more independently
  • Apply for companion cards, parking permits, and Centrelink forms so you can get out and about in your local community
  • Achieve your education goals
  • And more!

Telehealth appointments

At CPL our Allied Health team are here to support you to access the therapies you need, in a way that suits your lifestyle. Our Telehealth appointments allow families to have access to consistent therapy services and expert support even when they can’t attend a face-to-face session.
