As you may be aware, several weeks ago the Queensland Government introduced a health directive specific to the disability sector in relation to COVID-19. Amongst other things, this directive required the full use of personal protective equipment and the restriction of visitors in disability accommodation settings.

To help you with this, Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) has created a helpful tool called My COVID-19 Plan.

CPL is now required to keep visitor records for 56 days for each of the Supported Independent Living (SIL) houses where we deliver services.
To make this process easier, CPL is looking to transition from paper-based forms to an online check-in system. We have introduced this in our offices, but we want to hear your thoughts about using online check in at your home instead of paper forms.

The Queensland Government has expanded its directive to cover the Darling Downs area. In line with this, from 8am Monday 31 August there will some additional measures in place for all CPL services, to keep you and your family, and our employees, healthy and safe and to ensure we are consistent with the required government restrictions.

Following two confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Gold Coast today, the Queensland Government has expanded directive to cover the Gold Coast City Council region. From tomorrow, there will be restrictions in place for all CPL services, to keep you and your family, and our employees, healthy and safe.

We are continually monitoring the advice from Queensland Health about this outbreak and today have introduced further precautionary measures to keep our clients and employees safe. At this time, CPL has had zero confirmed cases of coronavirus, and the measures we have chosen to implement this weekend are both precautionary and temporary

As you may be aware, nine new cases of COVID-19 in the southeast Queensland region were announced today, as a result the Queensland Government has shutdown aged care and disability accommodation in the affected local government areas. CPL has recognised the potential risk to those living and working in those regions so has made a series of changes to ensure client and employee safety during this period.

As you know, just over a fortnight ago CPL made the decision to temporarily suspend Support in the Community services due to the potential COVID-19 outbreak on the southside of Brisbane. Given the small number of cases associated with this outbreak, we are now able to reopen our services from tomorrow, Tuesday 18 August.

As you know, last week CPL made the safety decision to change some of our services in South Brisbane. Following the lead of Queensland Health, we have decided to extend these arrangements up until and including Friday 14 August 2020.

As you may be aware, three new cases of COVID-19 in South East Queensland were announced yesterday.
CPL has recognised that these cases are occurring at a time where there are fewer community restrictions in place and that shopping centres and other community facilities are open, so we have made a series of prompt changes to our services in impacted areas to reduce the risk to our clients and staff.

With Australia and its States now enacting plans to resume community life, CPL has also been developing its plan to carefully resume our centre-based group activities and programs.
As part of this, we have determined to partially reopen our Support in the Community centre sites from Monday 25 May.

We are now working to carefully plan a staged return of more service delivery options. The risks that remain for many of our clients are greater than those for the general population. So we want to be sure that our services can be delivered as safely as possible at each stage.

The Australian Government has introduced new rulings regarding non-essential gatherings to come into effect from midnight tonight.
As a result of these new restrictions, CPL is implementing changes to community access supports and visitation in shared accommodation settings.

As the Coronavirus situation evolves and the Government introduces new measures to reduce the risk of transmission, we understand many clients may have questions about their services from CPL.
We want to reassure you that we are focused on continuity of service for all our clients. Despite this, there may be some adjustments required to some services should social distancing measures intensify, including the closure of schools.

CPL has introduced additional measures regarding site visitation and cleanliness – and reinforced existing practices regarding personal hygiene – at our sites to manage the risk of transmission for clients and employees.
We continue to liaise with the Federal Department of Health, Queensland Health, NSW Health and other government departments, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and other disability providers to share information and strategies, and ensure people with a disability are included and prioritised in broader health planning.
