I hope you had the opportunity to get out and about over the last few days, with restrictions now starting to ease in Queensland.

For the last eight weeks we have been making adjustments to our services – in line with Government advice – to keep our clients and employees safe.  As restrictions lift, we are now working to carefully plan a staged return of more service delivery options.   The risks that remain for many of our clients are greater than those for the general population.  So we want to be sure that our services can be delivered as safely as possible at each stage.

I look forward to sharing details of our plans with you as they are finalised.

Survey thank you

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our technology survey. The information has provided valuable insights into how everyone is using technology. Your feedback has helped CPL further shape our online programs, which launched this week.  If you’d like to find out more about our online programs and how you can get involved, click here. And congratulations to Shelley from Brisbane who won the Lenovo tablet!

Access to technology

If you’re interested in accessing our online services, but don’t have the right technology, you may wish to learn more about the temporary supports available through the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to purchase low-cost assistive technology, including tablets.

This opportunity is only available to people whose existing supports have been interrupted as a result of coronavirus.  There are detailed eligibility requirements that you should review before purchasing any equipment.  Please read this link on the NDIA website.

If you believe you are eligible, you will need written confirmation from your service provider about your needs.   Please speak to your local Area Manager if you believe your usual service was interrupted and would like us to confirm.

Messages of kindness

A couple of weeks ago, we wrote to our supporters to ask them to send in messages of support to our clients and our employees. We were overwhelmed with the number of emails we received and have collated some of the messages into a video for you here. I hope you enjoy watching it.

As always, if there is anything we can do to assist you further, please don’t hesitate to send me an email.

Take care and stay safe
