When I sent my first client COVID-19 update to you all back in March, I didn’t think I'd still be sending you emails in June, however this pandemic has certainly changed our way of life, albeit temporarily.
Today, I wanted to touch base to say thank you. Over the last three months, I have been incredibly humbled to see how resilient and creative our clients and employees have been during this time. While it has been challenging, we have also seen the best in people and situations. As part of my final COVID-19 update today, I wanted to share some highlights with you.
We went digital
Over the past few weeks, our clients have embraced online connections, whether it be through our online arts or capacity building programs, telehealth appointments, or reading Touchstone magazine online.
Although many of our clients hadn’t used programs like Zoom before, they jumped in ready to learn and embraced CPL's online programs as a new way to keep in touch and meet new people. This was a new way of working for our CPL services, and it has been wonderful to see how many people got involved. Here is a photo of some clients participating in an online program.
Our support services didn’t stop
It was incredibly important to the entire CPL team that we continued to deliver high quality services to clients throughout self-isolation and social distancing. We know that the need for disability support services doesn’t stop, even during a pandemic, which is why our team worked with clients individually to understand their changing needs. During this period, our one-to-one services increased, as many of us spent more time at home. I am very proud of our many employees who adapted to the changes and restrictions with the sole focus of keeping our clients safe and healthy.
Personally, I have loved seeing how our clients have remained busy – and creative! - at home. Thanks to everyone who shared photos of your cooking, gardening and craft creations. Here is a photo of our client, James, cooking at home.
“Thank you to all the carers for keeping me busy. Stay safe out there everyone.” James
Our new normal
With things returning to a new normal, I think it is time for me to wrap up these regular COVID-19 updates. Thank you for letting me be part of your lives over the last few months. Thank you for reading and many times responding to my emails, it has been a privilege to keep in touch with each of you as we navigated this situation together.
This won’t be the last time you hear from us though. We will still be in touch with you about specific changes to your own services. However, I think now is the right time to close off my regular visits to your inbox.
This email I received in response to one of my updates sums it up nicely:
Boy we are going to miss your update emails once the covid-19 is over lol. Just kidding 🙂
Look after yourself and your family during this uncertain time!
One final reminder from me. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home. With winter upon us, it’s important to ensure not just our health, but that of those around us. Just give us a call on 1800 275 753 to change or cancel your appointment or services.
Again, thank you. I have been so humbled to be part of your lives during this period and while we can’t share a handshake or high five just yet, I am hopeful we will be able to catch up soon.
