As you may be aware, nine new cases of COVID-19 in the southeast Queensland region were announced today. Six of those confirmed cases are spread across the Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Logan, Scenic Rim, Ipswich and Redlands local government areas.

Today, the Queensland Government has shutdown aged care and disability accommodation in those local government areas. CPL has recognised the potential risk to those living and working in those regions so has made a series of changes to ensure client and employee safety during this period.

I want to reassure you that at the time of writing, no CPL employee or client has tested positive for coronavirus. Due to the confirmed cases having potential widespread community contact, we are being extra cautious and evaluating new information each day. The below changes have been informed by the Queensland Government advice and we strongly encourage you to monitor their updates and advice.

In line with government’s decision to shut down aged care and disability accommodation across southeast Queensland, effective immediately visitors will not be allowed onsite until further notice.

The following measures will also be introduced:

  • Contractors will not be allowed onsite until further notice

  • All employees will continue to have their temperature checked and signing a declaration form before beginning their shift

  • All employees will wear PPE throughout their shift (gloves, mask and aprons). Steps will be taken to limit employees undertaking shifts at other locations for CPL or any other provider

At this time, we are not suspending CAS services, however we strongly recommend any non-essential trips don’t take place. If you have essential trips required, please do the following:

  • Avoid high traffic areas such as busy shopping centres

  • Don’t visit a location where social distancing can’t be followed

  • Wear a mask if you can – CPL can provide one for you

  • Practice good hand and respiratory hygiene

Support in the Community

A decision about CPL’s Support in the Community services will be made over the coming days when more information is released from the Queensland Government. Please keep an eye on your emails for more details.

With the community transmission of this current cluster unknown, the Chief Medical Officer has reiterated the need to get tested if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. If you are feeling unwell and have a shift coming up, please let us know so we can work with you to make the appropriate arrangements.

We will closely monitor this outbreak over the coming days and will communicate any changes or updates with you as they arise.

As always, if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or your local Manager at any time.

Take care
