CEO Message - 16 July
It has only been a few weeks since my last CEO message, but I wanted to talk to you today about the ongoing coronavirus situation.
Please take the time to watch this video and find out about how we can all contribute to keeping our clients and colleagues safe.
All Staff Update #34
The rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation in Victoria is serving as a timely reminder about the risks that still exist for us all and the people we support. So, I wanted to provide an update on what CPL continues to do to manage our risks, and remind everyone of their personal and work responsibilities regarding health and hygiene.
Please take the time to read this email and ensure you understand how this applies to you and your work environment. If there is anything you are unsure about, please contact your supervisor or manager, or send me an email.
Escalation of planning
In March, CPL established a COVID-19 working group to monitor all government restrictions and implement measures related to CPL’s service delivery. In most instances, we have aligned our response to Government directives. However, in some cases, we have implemented additional measures given the vulnerable nature of our clients. We are continuing to monitor the situation in Victoria and other States, and are prepared to re-introduce protective measures if required.
If we decide to make changes, we will communicate these to you via email as we did through the April-May peak. Please keep an eye on your inbox (or SMSs) and read all employee updates as they arrive.
Return to the office
From next Monday 13 July, each CPL site will begin a planned return to the office. As each site is different in size and space, a different return plan has been put in place for sites. If you are returning to the office next week, please do so on your already advised schedule.
We anticipate this will continue until 30 September. Those with ongoing health concerns, should speak to their supervisor. Any general questions about return to the office should also be discussed with your supervisor.
Even with few cases in Queensland and Northern New South Wales we must maintain social distancing where possible at work – and in our personal lives. Please continue to keep 1.5m away from others and ensure 4 square metres of space is maintained in closed spaces such as meeting rooms. If you work in an office, room limits have been calculated and should be adhered to at all times.
Don’t come to work if you are sick
We are now in the middle of winter, with many people feeling the effects of the cold weather. If you are feeling unwell, or have any symptoms of a flu or cold, please do not come to work. Prior to COVID-19, you may have been accustomed to coming to work when feeling unwell. This practice is no longer acceptable.
Hygiene and cleanliness in shared spaces
It is vital any space that is used by multiple people is kept clean. If you are using a meeting room or kitchen, follow the cleaning and hygiene instructions by wiping down the table and other touched surfaces, and making use of hand sanitiser. Do not assume others have cleaned surfaces prior to your arrival.
Most shared use items – such as cutlery and crockery – have been removed from kitchens. The appliances still available should be cleaned before and after use. If you are using your own utensils, please wash these yourself and return them to your personal space. Fridges should also be cleaned out regularly.
If people are unable to maintain kitchen hygiene, additional restrictions may be reintroduced. If you have any questions about this, please speak to your site manager.
Extensive cleaning and sanitisation processes have been put in place at all sites. Please ensure you adhere to the guidelines communicated to you specific to your work location/situation. If you have any questions about the cleaning procedures for your site, please speak to your manager.
Download the app
With community transmission emerging in other States, we highly recommend employees download the COVID-19 app. The app will alert you if you have come into contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, which will support both health authorities and CPL with contact tracing if required.
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or your local manager.
Take care and stay safe.
