It's National Volunteers Week May 8-14, and I think it's the perfect time to extend a huge thank you to the 6 million Aussies who add incredible value to over 6000 organisations through volunteering.
The theme of this year's National Volunteer Week is "Give Happy, Live Happy”.
I am proud to say that, that rings true for CPL's (Cerebral Palsy League) 700+ service and event volunteers across Queensland, who all contribute in a range of diverse and meaningful ways. In the past 12 months alone, CPL volunteers have given over 15,000 hours of their time.
There is such a strong connection between volunteering and happiness; at CPL, 92% of our volunteers said that volunteering makes them feel good about themselves! But the impact isn't only to volunteers, but also to the organisations, clients and their families who get such value from the joy and compassion they bring.
Without the generosity and support of all the wonderful people who volunteer at CPL, we would not be the same organisation that we are today.
I would like to say an enormous thank you to all volunteers across the country, who 'Give Happy, Live Happy', and add value to the rich fabric of our community by volunteering.
We're always searching for amazing people to join our team! Check out our current volunteer opportunities here: http://volunteers.cpl.org.au
